Introduction of Department

The Department of Rognidan evum Vikrutivigyan was established in 1992 and has since evolved into a full-fledged center for teaching, research, and patient care.

Growth and Facilities

The department is equipped with.

• Modern instruments and infrastructure
• A spacious, computerized laboratory
• A well-developed museum

These facilities support teaching, learning, research, and clinical applications in line with the demands of today’s changing world.

Academic and Clinical Focus

The department functions as a custodian of classical Ayurvedic knowledge while continuously refining and updating it to meet modern healthcare needs. By integrating basic sciences and modern investigative procedures, it addresses global healthcare challenges. The academic focus includes:
• Training students in the principles of Rognidan (General Pathology) and Vikrutivigyan (Systemic Pathology)
• Imparting diagnostic skills from both Ayurvedic and modern perspectives
• Encouraging participation in extracurricular and research activities
• Preparing competent Ayurvedic professionals for practice, teaching, and research

Milestones

• 2007–08: Pathology Laboratory recognized as a Research Laboratory
• 2012: Institute achieved ISO certification
• 2013–14: After CCIM and MUHS inspections, permission granted to initiate the PG Course (M.D. Rognidan) with an intake of 6 students per year from November 2013
• 2021: Institute received NAAC accreditation and adopted Environmental Management, Energy Management, and Educational Organization Management Systems
• February 2024: Pathology Laboratory achieved GCLP certification

• PG students actively participate in seminars, workshops, and academic events under faculty guidance, contributing to the department’s reputation.
• Faculty and PG students regularly present and publish research papers in national and international seminars.
• The department continues to promote research interest among students, ensuring active involvement of both learners and teachers.

The Department of Rognidan evum Vikruti Vigyan envisions becoming a centre of excellence in Ayurvedic education, research, and clinical diagnosis, setting benchmarks of quality at both national and international levels. Its ultimate aim is to propagate Ayurveda globally by producing skilled, competent, and ethical professionals who combine the wisdom of Ayurveda with modern scientific approaches.

The department aspires to nurture globally competitive teachers, practitioners, and researchers who integrate classical Ayurvedic principles with advancements in modern diagnostics, thereby serving society with competence, innovation, and integrity.

Future Plan

1. To get accreditation by NABL (National Board of Laboratory Accreditation) by QCI.
2. Establish a well-equipped computerized pathology lab, including electrolytes and HbA1C facilities.
3. Standardize and scientifically evaluate ancient clinical and laboratory diagnostic technologies, e.g., Tailbindu Parikshan Yantra for Mutra Parikshan.
4. Develop diagnostic devices to validate ancient diagnostic tools.
5. Establish Ayurvedic investigations for Rakta, Mala, and Mutra.
6. Correlate laboratory investigations with Ayurvedic clinical diagnostic principles.
7. Scientific evaluation of Ayurvedic clinical diagnostic tools.
8. Conduct aetiopathological and clinico-pathological studies, including development of Samprapti-Ghatakas for newly observed diseases – Anukta Vyadhis.
9. Organize Reorientation Training Programs (ROTP) and CME in Rognidan and Vikriti Vigyan for teachers and medical officers.
10. Establish a paperless department.
11. Carry out research projects and health camps with PG students.
12. To get Recognition as a Ph.D. Department.

It is my privilege to introduce the Department of Rognidan evum Vikruti Vigyan, the diagnostic backbone of CSMSS Ayurved Mahavidyalaya & Rugnalaya. Established to blend Ayurvedic diagnostic wisdom with modern scientific tools, the department has grown into a centre of excellence in teaching, research, and patient care.

Since the initiation of the Undergraduate course (BAMS) in 1991 and the Postgraduate course (MD Rognidan & Vikruti Vigyan) in 2013, we have consistently produced competent Ayurvedic doctors, academicians, and researchers. Our modern laboratories, specimen museum, and advanced diagnostic facilities ensure comprehensive training for students and accurate services for patients.

I am proud of my dedicated faculty team, who not only impart knowledge but also contribute to research, innovation, and community health. Together, we strive to shape the future of Ayurveda diagnostics and aim to develop into a recognized Ph.D. centre under NCISM, expanding our role in education, research, and healthcare services.
